2008/2009 Session DatesFall: Sep 8 to Dec 3 No class Oct 11 (Thanksgiving) Winter: Jan 5 to Apr 2 There are no classes during the summer, although students often train at the Gladstone club in Ottawa instead during this time. For more info see Carleton University Athletics. FeesThe cost for classes is $127.20 (Fall 2006) per semester. There is 25% off for Gold Members. LocationThe Carleton University Jiu Jitsu dojo is in the Combatives Room of the Athletics facility. Here is a detailed campus map - the dojo is in the Combatives Room on the second floor of Building 8, but you have to go to the main Athletics Building (Building 9) to enter the facility. Amelia CrollSubmitted by thedoctor on Mon, 05/09/2005 - 10:06am. ![]() Amelia began her training in Shorinji Kan Jiu Jitsu with Sensei Andy Dobie while attending Trent University. She trained from Sept. 1997 to April 1999. Amelia then moved back to Ottawa and continued to train at the YMCA club as well as at the Carleton University Jiu Jitsu Club. Amelia earned her black belt in Sept. 2004, during a grading held by the late Shihan Brian Graham, head of style. Her Jitsu teaching career began as assistant instructor at Carleton University's Jiu Jitsu Club, under the leadership of Sensei Kieran Parsons. Then, in January 2003, she assumed the role of Club Instructor. She instructed the Carleton University Club until April 2005. Amelia lives in Ottawa with her husband and works as a teacher at a high school for high-risk teenagers. Her other interests/hobbies include soccer and naturopathic medicine. Since then, he has also trained at the Ottawa Metro YMCA, and has trained under Sensei Colin Welburn, Sensei John Molyneux, Sensei Amelia Croll, and Sensei Jon Jamnik. He was the Assistant Instructor at the YMCA club from January 2003 to August 2005. In September 2005, Brent returned to Carleton Universty as Assistant Instructor to Sensei Jon Jamnik, and regularly trains at the Gladstone Club. Brent holds current St. John Ambulance Standard First Aid and CPR Level "A" certificates, and currently holds the rank of Shodan (1st Degree Black Belt) - photo to be updated! Jonathan JamnikSubmitted by kieran on Sun, 04/09/2005 - 4:55pm. ![]() Jonathan Jamnik began his training in January of 2000 at Carleton University under Sensei John Molyneux Nidan. In the summer of 2000, and subsequently during the next two summers, he trained at the Ottawa Metro YMCA under Sensei Colin Welburn Shodan. In September of 2000 he returned to Carleton University and began training with Sensei Kieran Parsons Shodan. In December of 2002 he had the privilege of instructing at the Ottawa Metro YMCA club and taught there until August 2005. In the summer of 2004, while living in Plymouth, England, he trained at the University of Plymouth Samurai Jiu Jitsu Club under Sensei Mark Browne Shodan. During that time he also trained at the China Fleet Club in Cornwall under Sensei Greg Regan Sandan, founder of the Ryu Ju Jutsu Association. On September 25th 2004, during the last Dan grading held by the late Brian Graham Shihan, founder of Shorinji Kan Jiu Jitsu, he was one of five to be awarded his black belt. In September 2005 he assumed the position of instructor at the Carleton University club, where he continues to teach to this day. Categories:
