The Junior class has changed schedule. It is now Fridays 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM.

There will also be a free practice session for adults 8:00PM - 10:00PM - there will be no formal class. This is a chance for you to come to the dojo and train on anything specific you may wish to improve. Senior grades will be there to answer questions.

Senior grades, this is a chance to work with other senior grades on material that is not always covered in class.

General

The Gladstone Shorinji Kan Jiu Jitsu dojo is located in downtown Ottawa and has classes 3 times per week. The club instructors are Kieran Parsons, Nidan, Chris Whynot, 1st kyu and by Yoshie Martinez, 1st kyu.

There are adult and junior's classes. The junior class is open to anyone from the ages 8 to 16. It approximately follows the adult syllabus but is adapted to an appropriate level for the age range. Our Juniors learn an appropriate level of defence against armed and unarmed opponents, striking, and falling techniques, in a controlled environment. Since bodies at this age are still developing, certain techniques, such as locks, are performed to position only, to protect growing bones and joints.

The dojo is shared with Ly's Taekwon-Do dojang (you can see their large sign).

Mr Hung Ly will be teaching part of the Jitsu session on Tuesday 31st January, starting at 8:00pm (not 8:30pm as the session normally starts). As many of you know, Mr Ly runs the Taekwon-Do dojang on Gladstone and kindly allows our Jitsu club to operate from his facility. He is a 4th degree black belt in ITF-style Taekwon-Do and an excellent instructor. All are welcome to attend. There will not be an extra fee for the class -- non-Gladstone jitsuka just pay the regular $10 drop-in fee.

The Gladstone dojo will be officially closed between Christmas and New Year, with the last session being on Dec 22nd and then beginning again on Jan 3rd. However, Sensei Jamnik may still be running sessions, so if you want to train, get in touch with him. The Junior Club will start again on Jan 8th. The Sunday sessions (from Dec 18th onwards) will be 4-6pm for all grades (moved from 2pm).
